If you had a fairly large ranch would you run cattle on it or just leave it for the wildlife ? Could most likely run 100 head of cows fairly easy. If I had cattle I would have someone tending to them, maybe a sweat equity type deal where they would get a percentage of the profit and possibly some hunting rights.

I have had people tell me that it will all grow up with briars and weeds with no cattle, they said cattle would actually help the property if not over grazed. What about running a bunch of steers if you have good grazing then selling them off well before hunting season ? If the wheat makes there is about 175 acres total of it.

If money doesn’t matter I probably wouldn’t mess with them, but really when does money never matter!
cow/calf operations will take up time and resources to tend and feed them year around. My dad and brothers have ran cow/calf operations for over 50 years. This type operation takes up quite a bit of time and planning.
stocker yearlings would be less time and planning for sure. They would only be on the property for part of the year. Could probably plan it out to remove them in the fall before first freeze.
If making money on the property or Ag tax exempt is not an issue and you want it for hunting recreational use only I would not run cattle on it. You can do habitat improvements without cattle. It just takes planning and different types of improvements.
