No deer. Dogs took up the trail and bee-lined to one spot such that Carroll (dog guy) figured they had found him. Two hours later we had not closed the gap on him. Dogs clearly trailed him as we found a decent blood trail in two spots but no deer. I'm thinking he'll live. I'll keep hunting hunting him, as will others on the lease.

Looks like it went thru left scapula and stuck in the offside scapula. He was having a hard time keeping his front legs under him. First couple strides it was as if both shoulders were pinned together. Only question is, was it above or below the spine. It is real close either way. He was sort of rolling away from the shot so it’s possible it went above. If it went below the spine, likely he’s a goner.

Man, that sucks. Hopefully he's licking his wounds today and will come back around. It's crazy how far the dogs chased him. I'll keep an eye out for him this weekend.

Tough break. Being he was quartering away like he was, I’m betting you missed any vitals and just got that front scapula. I bet he’ll be back.

My completely uneducated opinion, I think you hit the scapula and he's gonna be fine. Right leg seemed to move just fine. I'd be surprised if the broadhead penetrated very far into through the bone.
