    SPYPOINT camera battery

I’ve got a few Spypoint Flex cellular game cameras. I’m new to the cellular cameras and not a fan of the battery life so far. I read that Energizer lithium batteries were recommended so I went with them. I got just over a month out of a set, and the camera quit. The battery indicator showed good and then 0%. I replaced them with regular Energizer batteries and they’ve gone down to 70% in almost 2 weeks. I’m debating getting their lithium battery pack, but not keen on its 5 hour recharge time. We don’t have camp power and I don’t usually take a generator to the lease.

Do any of you have experience with the SPYPOINT Flex cellar cameras? Their lithium battery packs? SPYPOINT has a $100 solar panel that will work like a battery tender but that’s kinda pricey for 2 if they aren’t any good. Anyone used these?

Spypoint has a 12v lead acid battery box that is another option. I can keep another battery on standby this way. Academy has an HME 12v battery box with a rotating solar panel which seems like a good deal at $60 if it’ll stand the test of time. Has anyone used either of these?

I don’t like spending lots of unnecessary money.

How often do you have them sending? If you just do it twice a day instead of every time it takes a picture you'll get a lot more life out of it. That's the same with all cell cameras.

This, I have a couple of SyPoint cameras with regular Energizer batteries in them I am sending pictures every 6 hours and still have 80% after 2 1/2 weeks.

Anyone have experience using solar panels or battery boxes with the SPYPOINT cameras?

I use the solar panel with my original Flex. It works fine. Also good sun shade because it's pretty good sized.

Is it worth the $100 per panel price tag over the 12v battery box?

I know this isnt a popular opinion but mine work great. I run the built in solar panel model spypoints (all of them) and havent taken them down in 2 years all still at 100% battery.

Batteries seem to last me a month and half or so. I have two spy points that have been in constant use for close to three years. No complaints from me.

I have mine set to take a picture every 5 minutes if something triggers & send to phone twice a day. Sometimes I turn them up to take more pictures if I’ve got them on a trail. I use them to watch food plots.

I don’t have cell service at my house so they’re useless there, but are very handy for deer camp where service is better.

I’d also like to hear about the solar charger.

Buy the Flex model that comes with the solar charger built in. It will keep the SpyPoint factory battery fully charged.

But, you also have to know that sometimes SpyPoints will just quit sending pics for no reason. You'll have to trek down to deer camp, turn the camera off and then back on again. And then it will email a crapload of pics that were never sent.

Oh and in regard to the solar charger, the one built into the Flex that I mentioned in the first paragraph. If it rains real hard and the camera quits sending pics, it's because the camera is full of water that intruded through the solar charger. If you're lucky, your camera is still under warranty and you can send it in to Spypoint. Then they'll mail you a new one but since they haven't bothered to fix the water instrusion issue, you're options are to take the solar charger apart and seal it yourself, or put the new camera up for sale on Craigslist for another fool to deal with.

Do you even own one? Honest question.
