Just a Heads Up on Kansas

Me and my brothers are going to west Kansas for the opener of pheasant season. If anybody wants to join us, shoot me a PM and I’ll let you in on all the details. Will be hunting all public lands. We did ok last year considering the state was in a severe drought. Reports so far are looking really good. My nephew will have his jam up dog leading us. Me and one brother will be leaving on a Thursday so we can scout some fields out for Saturday.

Don't forget, if you see them on the side of the road, or in someone's crops, just go to the nearest house and knock. And ask if you can hunt-em. They hate them on their crops.

Think I answered all the PMs. The date for opening weekend is always the second weekend in November. The cost for licenses is right at $100.

I should also add that this hunt will require A LOT of walking, so a good pair of hiking shoes will come in handy.

Have always wanted to do this.
Are y’all staying in a hotel or tent?

Most everybody is staying at the motel. That time of the year is just too cold for tent camping. I found a one bedroom cottage there in town that has a kitchen. I plan to make breakfast tacos for everybody and it’s cheaper than the motel.
There is only one motel in town and I think it’s almost full. Apparently there is a wedding going on that same weekend and a lot of rooms are booked for that. This is in Syracuse Kansas. Next little town to the west is Coolidge and there are some cabins still available.

That’s why I started this thread. Trying to recruit some young blood lol!!! Me and all 3 of my brothers have come down with Plantar fasciitis in one foot. Not sure if we can make a full day of walking, so we might have to block sooner than later lol!!! I rather walk. Walkers usually get into more birds than the blockers. Then, you have some guys like we had last year that blocked. Well, that second day turned off cold and I mean bitter cold. So they sat in the truck with the heater going. When we made our approach, they never got out. Got right up to the truck and a big ole rooster busted out and I killed it. Fell right in front of the truck lol!!!
