Samaritan Ministries is a good one if you would be interested in a health sharing option. Saves a boatload on premiums over big insurance companies while self employed.

we use Zion Health which is a shared health plan. We pay $5-600 per month for a family of 5. So far they have covered my wife's knee surgery and PT plus a $15k ER visit for heart related issues for me without issue. We have a $2500 per occurrence deductible. We have to self pay for everything and then they reimburse you(minus deductible) after you pay but it is always pretty quick without any problems so far. It's crazy how much cheaper minor healthcare related things are when you show up and tell them you are self pay compared to your insurance getting charged. Plus you get 1 annual Dr visit paid for, discounted medications and free access to tele doc whenever you need it for minor stuff instead of going and paying for a Dr visit.

We have a girl in our agency that writes alot of group health but I have not discussed individual policies. I will ask her what options are out there.

Whatever you choose, make sure it is part of a group plan. I'm self employed and my family had a individual plan which normally has an up to amount coverage only. When I got diagnosed with Cancer, none of the major hospitals would accept my insurance because it only covered up to $100,000. I had to hire my wife to qualify for group insurance. We did that and were able to get a BCBS group plan.

In that case definitely one of the shared health plans mentioned above. I did Obama care once for my family and I and it was overpriced and low quality. Having a Shared plan makes it so much more affordable and better benefits.

I just do without it personally. Just can't justify the cost. Even after paying the outrageous monthly cost, you still have to cough up huge deductibles to use it. I'm 44 and have never had it up to this point.
