    Another Starlink post - obstructions

I got my Starlink email today and got it ordered. I went out to check the location I wanted to put it, should have done this first, and there are major obstructions. I have 3 Sycamore and a Pecan tree that are the main obstructions. They are all on the north and east facing side of the house and are all 40-60 feet tall. It looks like I'm going to have to mount it on a pole about 75 feet from the house to get a clear view. Has anyone patched the 150' and 75' cables together to get a clear view? If so are you able to run normally or does it slow you down?

We've been using hotspots for years and are about 25 down and 4 up on average.

Will a rooftop mount work for you or do your trees cover your roof?

I'm not sure I would splice the cables.

I don't think it will. The trees are too close to the house. I have not climbed on the roof to check yet though.

looks like the 150' cable should be enough.

It’s mostly going to point north to NNE at about a 45 degree angle. You can use the stand to check before the final install. I st mine in the yard for a few days to find the right spot.

There is no coupling to connect 2 SL cables together but there is an Ethernet adapter that will allow the use of Ethernet cable of any length.

I know my old azz is technically limited so I received my Starlink yesterday. Unpackaged it and I guess I am going to need/order the Ethernet adapter to hook it up to my existing ethernet cable? I did not see one in the packaging.

it’s an optional item that can be purchased from Starlink

thanks I will order that along with a post attachment. I should have asked here if I needed anything else when I had it delivered so I could connect up and go with it.

Once you figure out the “run” that you are going to have back to the house get either cat-6 or cat-7 Ethernet cable to allow for higher data transfer capabilities. Also there are lots of connectors out there that you might try on the coaxial cables that come with the system. You just need to figure out which type connectors are on the cable ends…
