QAD dropaway rest not dropping? HELP

Been paper tuning and found that the cable that activates the spring-powered fork to drop... was set up too long when it got re-strung. Finally shortened it and am getting some perfect shots, but on about 25% of my shots, best I can tell, the thing is not dropping, so my arrow shaft and fletchings are shooting through the fork, forcing it to close, making lots of noise and causing bad flight. Anyone have insight/suggestions before I spend the $ on a new drop rest? Starting to get nervous about the opener. Thanks Greenscreen

Edit: Sorry, re-posting this in Equipment and Tuning

I used those for years and really liked them. but after two of them doing the same thing I decided they were not reliable enough so I switched back to a biscuit. cant help you at all.

If the tension is set correctly and it won't drop then either replace it or go with the limb driven rest. Way less likely to have a problem. I'm a hamskea fan myself.

I think a buddy had a similar issue and if I recall correctly it was a rusty spring. If you can’t figure out the issue DON’T hunt with it as you could end up wounding a deer. I’ve never had an issue with mine and I’ve had 3.
