Having hell with little mans shot gun

I just got the shotgun from tri star a week before the opener of dove. First day dove the gun jams up not stop. Finally getting it going and the extractor flys off. I’m pretty much ****** at this point. Any recommendations for a good shot gun gunsmith in the dfw area. Thanks a ton

Warranty should take care of it... My neighbor had problems with his, I called Tristar and they said send it back. His came back in good working order. Good luck!

My 20 year old 870 is the only shotgun I own that jams.

You have to pull the forend back towards the grip and then push it forward.

When Benelli first became popular years ago, we used to laugh at them and the Browning guys, and lend em our 870 while we cleaned a little grit out of theirs. They couldn’t believe how those old 870s would keep on working while their shiny guns wouldn’t. Seemed like it was every duck and goose hunt for a long time.

Tri stars cost what they do for a reason.

I grew up shooting an 1100, and learned how to keep them shooting.

I’ve got a A390 or 391, can’t remember, but it runs on dirt.

I wouldn’t own an 870, because I can hear them 400 yards away whether they jam or not, and because I’m smart enough to own whatever that beretta is. I could stuff two 410 shells in that chamber with a pry bar, and it’ll out shoot a **** 870.

I mostly just shoot my old red lable 20…

You might need to polish the chamber. Its a common issue with these. Easy fix

Take it to Cabelas and trade it in for a more reputable shotgun.

My nephew bought a Tristar Raptor from Academy and it had problems, it would not cycle. He sent it back and they "fixed" it, but it was still the same as before. It is sitting in the used rack at Cabelas in Buda now.

What would you look for. He is small and just turned 10. He has a pump but wants a semi automatic to spoiled kids.

He bought a Franchi Affinity that was in the used rack, we shot some clay birds with it and it feeds everything you can put in it. I think he told me he it was 799.99 and they gave him 450 trade in. I would have to ask him to verify.

I inherited an 1100 LT about a year after getting the 870 and never looked back. A couple years ago I gave the barrel to my neighbor to polish as he has the tools. He called last week telling me he just found the barrel we thought he lost! It'll get polished one of these days.

Get him a gas operated semi auto 20 ga. The gas operation will suck up a little of the recoil. If you could find an 1100-LT-20 it would be perfect. Its what I started with when I was 10 and the gun my son started with when he was 10. Might look on gunbroker.
