I bought one of those and didn't care for it at all. Wasn't cheap either!

A file guide works very well and doesn't take long at all.

I looked at those a while back also ! If you can figure your angle out with a quality file then a person doesn’t need anything more!

Harbor freight sells a saw grinder or my preference is a standard file. Every tooth has the angle guide and just count your strokes, wipe off file every once in a while and that’ll be all you need.

Also- I don’t like the grinders because they can take the temper out of good quality chains.

This file right here, link, has been the best thing I have found. It's alittle pricey but well worth it!

A neighbor gave my dad an old school sharpener, like the kind they used to have in the back of the hardware store where you payed to have them sharpened. He sharpen's chains for the whole neighborhood, family, church, and everyone who shows up with a 6 pack of Coors Originals. He replaces small carburetors for a case.

This tool from Stihl is a little pricey but is easy to use ( for me ) and works really well. Just get the one for your chain and have at it.

I will stick with my bench mounted Oregon sharpener. Sharp chain everytime and paid for itself many times over.

This is a dilemma I'm dealing with as well.
I thought I was doing a good job manually sharpening with a file, but I guess I was wrong.

I've tried two different "Power Tool" stores (both Stihl Authorized Dealers) and both have done a worse job with their fancy machines than I was manually with a file...

x10 on the Stihl one. Way better than the knockoff one just like it.

And I never could get the one in post #10 to work good. If anyone wants one like that I have one. $10 takes it.
