Been there done that. New warrant was drafted or safe was included in original warrant. Warrant coverage (in my limited experience of once a week or so) is and should be very specific.

bad search by FBI and liberty safe lawyers need more schooling. However, nothing will happen to the FBI and liberty safe will take it on the chin for a minute over a bad decision that Glenda the receptionist made

Im confused by the "backdoor code". Does each safe also have its own unique backdoor code? Are these digital entry or wheel style entry safes?

School me on how this took place?

Do safe companies keep a record of combinations safes were sent out with?
Is there an "overide combo" for electronic locks? Old school dial locks?

I don't own a liberty but I have considered since this all came to light getting my combo changed just in case.

Not that I have anything to hide, just for the principal of the whole thing

For the ones saying liberty could have been put out of business by not giving up the combo, what do you think is going to happen to them now?

Not many liberal snowflakes in the market to buy their products
May not put them out of business but dang sure gonna leave some scars

I agree and any evidence obtained through the illegal search should have been tossed. Its not that hard to get a warrant signed for goodness sakes, just take a couple hours and follow the proper steps

                BT,

This is the first I've ever heard of a safe co having a backdoor entry so can't say what other safe mfg's are doing...I prefer mechanical dials & recommend one change the combo regardless if the safe was purchased new or used.

Liberty is now owned by a private equity firm out of New York that owns lots of companies. Not surprising that parent company gives money to democrats.

I read all the links and saw nowhere that there was a "backdoor" code or anything of that nature. If there is show me. And, I know it's sounds bad for liberty but the fbi could have easily broke into that safe. We busted into one for the police with our Hurst tool once. At least this way they probably didn't damage the safe.

I think that is a very poor argument for giving them the combination.

It is for sure. But at least they didnt ruin the safe.

If it is bye-bye for Liberty in either category (danged if they do and danged if they did not) I guess it is time to grab a super fancy 100 gun safe for super low.......lol!
As mentioned above, either their lawyer was absolutely LAST in his class or the receptionist Glenda freaked out!

From my understanding, the warrant was for a private residence and the safe was the property of the owner of that residence. The Liberty Safe company was not a part of that warrant and was under no legal obligation to comply with the FBI’s request. They just did it willingly.

Wouldn’t that info have to be subpoenaed for Liberty to be compelled to provide it?
