Float plane - helicopter collision in Alaska

My business partner is in Alaska fishing with friends in Katmai National Park. Yesterday (first day of a 10 day trip) their float plane collided with a helicopter - the pilot somehow crash landed on the river and other than getting a bit banged up, all walked away. The chopper pilot was injured but a miracle nobody died. Details are sketchy- I can’t wait to hear the whole story

That's incredible. Glad to hear no one lost their life. I flew in floatplanes (passenger) in Juneau almost every day of the summer from 2002-2010.

Yep, lots of taxi's in the sky in Alaska. Lots of wreckage on mountainsides, they just leave the aircraft there. Really glad to hear they walked away.

All my years flying, nothing was as important as keeping my head out of the cockpit!! With those chopper rotor blades flinging around, they are fortunate to have survived.

Incredible story. I was at Enchanted Lake Lodge last summer and flew with Jim (the float planet pilot) every day. He’s an incredible pilot and from what I’ve heard, did an unbelievable job of getting that plane down safely. I group of my friends went there in June and another group is leaving Saturday to head there. Glad they all made it out of that ordeal safely. Btw-if you get the chance to go, don’t pass it up. The most amazing trip I’ve ever been on.

Plane came down on the helicopter or helicopter gained altitude into the plane???
At least one of the stories that I read said that the plane only had a damage float so maybe a rotor hit the float???
