Since it’s hot and dry for a bit more

Are those scrawny deer gonna hit the corn all seaon long? This weather in Central Texas has really killed the browse. I don’t expect much quality.

If no acorn crop, how will they build fat reserves? Not as many people feeding or feeding as much quantity with higher feed prices. Hard to be optimistic.

I’m hoping to draw something big and hungry to a feed bunk.

Corn doesn't help them much. They will survive with or without it.

They have been surviving and thriving for thousands of years, I think whatever they get from us is just a bonus. Some years better than others of course.

Corn basically is candy to a deer, but it will somewhat take acorns’ place if there’s no acorn crop. They are eating the hell out of mine right now. They will hit corn even harder when it gets cold, for the carbs.

Looks like no Acorns in my neck of the woods, they prematurely fell off about a month ago. They were tiny

Surprisingly, the early season rains has our horns much better than last year. We have feed some protein, but they got a a good head start before it quit raining. it will be a tough winter for wildlife in Brown county. Hope some rain soon before the growing season is behind us.

FWIW I hate hunting years like this where deer become less wary in their desperate need for corn.
