Anyone have experience creating work schedules?

We have 9 employees and need 24/7 365 coverage. What are some good options?

Lots of factors…how many hours do they currently work daily? How many required to be on site at any given time?

Really depends on a lot! 168 hours in a week of 24 hr days. so depends on if you need one person only for every hour, do they need overlap for lunch and breaks etc, what are the budgetary issues involved and so much more.

Gotcha. Can’t work more than 40 hours a week need at least 2 working at a time.

If you split up the employees into 3 units and have them work 8 hours you could almost cover 24/7. Problems will be vacation time and sick leave. You would need a minimum of 4 employees per shift to achieve 24/7 coverage IMHO.

You hit the nail on the head here! They are trying to do too much with too little.

I agree. Vacation, sick, and resignations with only 2 people per shift is going to be rough.

Do 12 hr shifts. 6 to 6. I worked both the 8 and 12 and the 12 gives people more time off.

Creating work schedules for 24/7, 365-day coverage with 9 employees can be quite a challenge. One option you might want to explore is using a Zipwhip alternative. These tools can help streamline and automate scheduling processes, making it easier to ensure all shifts are covered effectively. Additionally, you can consider shift rotation and team collaboration to manage coverage efficiently. Feel free to ask if you'd like more information on specific scheduling tools or strategies!

You can't do it like that. Some thing has to give.
