looks like its back to 5 fish. https://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/o...-length-limits

Apparently TPW didn't want to look like idiots and go back on their word. Look for new regulations in 2024. It's coming.

I hope it at least stays at 5. The way Sabine has fished this year a good argument for going back to 10 could be made

Is that now or as of Sept 1? Not that it matters to me, probably won't go til mid-Sept.

Supposedly the net counts didn't improve in Matty & SA bays. You can bet Sorry azz tpwd will be looking into making those limits legal again as fast as they can .

We fished Matagorda 2 weeks ago, and while this updated bag limit would have been nice, we struggled to get even 3 per person. It was a very long morning...

Couple weeks ago I talked to the TPWD survey guy at Froggy's in POC, he said nobody's been bringing in any trout or anything inshore really. He said the only stuff he'd been logging was offshore and even that wasn't much. Fishing's been SLOW out there.

Some of us never get checked to give our input. had a 50 plus trout day today. Most all were 15-18”. Lost a couple 18-20” Now that the water is back to normal, I expect this to be the norm. As it has been for me most of the times I’d fished this year.

Hate we are going to become like Florida sooner than later. **** I miss the 10 limit. But at the same time I understand way more folks fishing now than even 10 years ago.

This has been one of the worst fishing seasons for me I can remember. No trout from the surf all season with many many attempts, very few take home fish on each boating trip. Yesterday I hit the Jetties, all the bouys and then a rig (freeport) and caught zero. (other than bait).
I don't say all that to tie it into stronger fishing regs....I put it all on me. Also it just hard to watch yesterday someone pull up a bass stringer full of undersized reds and another group throwing an illegal cast net and putting everything into coolers. I think the current influx of immigrants who do not understand or are unaware of Texas fishing regulations will continue to put a slight damper on the fish population as well.

Glad its going back, i like a 16” trout, its the perfect 2 taco size for a person.

Some guides in Corpus will target blk drum for filling baggies and catch and release reds & trout…i wish more would do things like that. There?€™s a ton of blk drum.

I agree with non-Texans keeping anything that swims, they will keep it all. TPWD seriously needs to do targeted education outreach to these communities. Its crazzy at the jetties & piers.

I haven't fished a lot this year but when I did earlier in the season we usually did fairly well, or well enough to be satisfied. It's been a rough pattern lately from what I understand, except Fish4Food always making everyone else look like amateurs! My last trip I didn't catch anything at all but didn't actually fish until after the hardhead jacked up my hand and it swelled up so that was like 15 minutes and done. There's a small marble sized lump in there still where the nerve is balled up from being shredded but I'm done with the antibiotics finally so I'm ready to get back after it. Seems like the pattern and West in the winds has finally changed a bit and things may have picked up now.

He's done so good that I heard through the grapevine that a company had reached out to him to help them test a prototype reel. That dude can catch some fish!!

You could make him fish with a Snoopy reel and he's still catch better than most of us.
