Condolences and prayers for Gumbo Man.

One very important detail that I had failed to mention is how important forgiveness is to God. My mom had harbored some very bad feelings towards her own mother later in life. They had not spoken or seen each other in approximately 15 years at the time of her mothers death and had festered to the point that she didn’t attend her own moms funeral. This was an issue that I was never able to resolve with her and she stood her ground firmly for many years. That was a tremendous burden that she had carried for so many years that affected the whole family. On Sunday evening when my brothers pastor asked her if there was anything troubling that she would like to discuss she brought this issue to the table and wanted it settled. So they did. He prayed with her and finally she was able to remove that burden that God obviously wanted resolved before he would allow her to come home. Once she was able to forgive her mom the way God offers forgiveness to us she was able to close her eyes and her suffering was over.

Wow Terry, what an important testimony!! Un forgiveness and pride are such hindrances for all of us to real peace. They are strong tools of Satan, but confessing and renouncing them brings such relief and defeats the devil’s efforts completely through repentance.

What a very powerful statement. Sounds like this was not only a great relief for your mom, but for the rest of your family as well.

That is truly amazing Terry. Thank God He was able to bring her to forgiveness and release that burden in her life.
Many don't realize the importance of forgiving others, but the Word says we must forgive or not be forgiven. Praise Jesus for this blessing on your family!
