    wheels or stick?

I started my son with a recurve bow when he was four, shot for two years and he loved it... "won serveral 3-D events". A year ago i got him a Hoyt Trykon jr. he is shootin lights out with it @ 15yds....last night before evening practice he told me that he wanted to shoot his recurve bow instead. What do I ???

Dust it off, string it and hand him an arrow.

Just be glad that he still wants to shoot.

Sounds to me like you have an outstanding smart son. Give him the recurve.

Let him shoot the recurve. He may find it more challenging...thus more enjoyable...maybe. Let him make the choice and he will continue to shoot.

My boys go back an and forth between the compound, recurve, and crossbow. Just let them have fun.

Nothin more fun or challenging than the stick bow. Compounds get real easy real quick so he might just be bored and need more of a challenge

let them do both. i have 2 one is 8 and one is 14. both started at 3 like yours they develop great release with tsick bow early then can shoot wheelie bows with fingers. this is great advantage in draw length for big game hunting . you will want to hunt them with wheels with heavy 500 gn 2 blade arrow. my oldest startes killing deer at 9 his younger brother killed 3 deer with his truth young gun at 8 including 120 class 8pt. you are priveleged to have such great kid. never look back and let them shoot both. my oldest went back to long bow at 12 and has been slaying ever since with it. hunt together stay together!

The more he shoots the recurve now, the better he'll be when he's your age. Let him have some fun. I don't have kids yet and I sometimes think about the longbows I want to buy for them.
