One Tough Pup

Dogs found him hiding next to our backdoor behind the recycling bin. He must have covered a lot of wild country to end up here as we are at the end of a single lane road. Neighbors and neighbor’s neighbors have no clue abut his origins. To get to my back door took some hiking. Drought, heat wave, coyotes, bobcats, foxes, owls, hawks……..





Any idea how old? He showed up yesterday evening. I bathed him in dawn and then oatmeal shampoo. He was dirty and skin is a little rough. Haven’t seen any bugs. Im gonna get him to the vet tomorrow. If anyone wants a puppy hit me up. He has a small paw to head ratio so don’t think he will get big. He has enough teeth to eat dry food. I might give him a medicated and flea shampoo but they all say 12 weeks and up.

Doubt he would have made it through today out there. 109 is the forecast today.

Tough to say for sure, not knowing his exact bloodline but there definitely looks to be at least some Labrador in there.

Having had several over the years, and also a male and female that had a couple of litters, he looks to be around 5 weeks from what I recall by his facial features. Pretty sure he’s not even 6 weeks yet and definitely doesn’t look anywhere near 12 weeks, to me at least.

Yeah I was at 6. Nowhere near 12. He isn’t scratching so I will wait and let the vet figure out whats best tomorrow.

Man if that little guy could talk. Hard to belive he just walked up at that age. Hope that someone did not dump em and he is the only one. Who ever gets that pup will have a life long friend I am sure. They bond really well when they are young like that. Probably pretty smart pup to know how to find someone at that age and dodge the critters and elements.

He is smart. He took right to the crate and uses the paper towels I put down to poop and pee on. My daughter might be taking him.

I wonder if he got picked up and then dropped by a bird of prey. How he got out on his own is anyone’s guess but he is so small and young. He couldn’t clear 100 yds of paved road in a day or in a straight line. Cant get over a hurdle more than 3 inches high. I live at the end of a half mile single lane road to my gate that has a motion sensor camera. No one on the road. Then another couple hundred yards of crushed concrete. Then somehow found the open gate to my back yard. Entire house is fenced in with no climb. No way he cleared acres and acres of forest and yet seems to be the only possible way he entered unless he fell from the sky lol.

My daughter has adopted him. His name is now Bentley.
