    Smoker Pellets?

I was given a brand new electric smoker and I’ve been playing around with it. It will in no way replace my stick burner but it is very convenient to use.
Using it with just the wood chips just doesn’t put much smoke out so I got a smoke tube.
So I smoked a lamb roast the other day and I did care for the flavor of the bark. I used Pit Boss Mesquite pellets and the taste was nothing like mesquite wood used in my stick burner.
What do y’all consider the best pellets to use?
    Brand and type?

Personal preference is not mesquite on anything. Too strong. I like oak for large beef cuts. Pecan on everything else.

I have liked the Lumberjack pellets the best. I do a blend of pecan oak and maple. I also liked the kingsford brand. I agree on mesquite being too strong for most meats.

I am a fan Bear Mountain pellets.

I think they have better smoke and flavor than Pit Boss, Traeger, B & B, etc.

I use the cheap Pit Boss competition (a blend of woods) stuff at Walmart - no complaints.

I use the Pit Boss Competition Blend, also. Probably have burned a couple of 40lb bags a months for the last several years and couldn’t tell difference between them and the higher priced other brands such as Lumberjack or B&B.

B&B Championship blend here. You can get a 40lb bag at Academy for around $16.

Yeah mesquite isn’t for everyone but it’s what I grew up with I’m from south Texas and that’s all we had. I love it.
The problem that I had with the Pit Boss brand was the flavor it gave to the meat was not like real mesquite wood.

Seems to be some favorable reviews for Lumberjack. Where are y’all finding that at?
