He talks about how he grew up and became the player he was. Sounds like a pretty down to earth guy.

Man, that was an awesome interview. Thanks for posting it up. I knew a bit about his hardware innovations but the story behind them was great. My first VH concert was in 1980, great show and was right on barrier due to my parents working concession stand and after helping filll popcorn cups up got down to stage before they opened doors to the venue. Was hooked on that band ever since.

I took Ed’s passing pretty tough.
Regarding electric guitar, your ability to play your instrument and your ability to drive an amplifier are two different things.
Ed’s ability push an amp better than well..anyone, is well documented.
He invented it, set the bar and took it to his grave.
Daily on YouTube, guitarists post covers of Ed’s work, dives into his equipment, technique or attempts to replicate his tone. Probably more than any other guitarist.
Even in a digital era, attempts to replicate his tone aren’t usually very close.
I love that. Other nerds like me, still stuck on a forgotten island. Tons of guitarists out there, we’ve all got our favorites, but I always come back here. I miss him.
Thanks for the link, op.
