    Plan "B"

As y'all know, I got notified I was being laid off on Oct.5. That's when all production machining will cease. Yesterday the big boss came down and asked if I would stay another month or two. They realized they were not going to have anyone to make tooling and finish fixtures that are in work. Some folks would tell them to go F their selves, but I'm not wired that way. I told him no problem. This will also let me hold off on SS until Jan. or Feb. and I'll gain another $300 a month.

Good deal, do what’s best for yourself and don’t worry about what others say or would do. You have had a long year and look at it this way the ball is in your court now of whether you “chose” to retire or not.

I believe for an extra $300/mo I could work a few more months too

Is it $300/month or an additional $300/month on top of your normal pay? Either way, it will doesn’t seem much of an add. If additional, that’s only a little more than $1/hr.

That’s deer season, I don’t think I could stay. Ha ha, just my two cents. Good Luck in whichever road you take.

It's an additional $300 a month on my SS payment if I wait until January.

October 6 would be a great day to tell them you need a substantial raise.

This. Win/Win either way. They either pay you what you’re worth or you ride off into the sunset not having to worry about that extra cost after that.

I think an extra two months is a no-brainer if you stand to gain an additional $300/mo in lifetime SS benefits. What a great bit of serendipity for you, sir!
