    5.0 Coyote mods

My warranty is about up on my 2017 f150 5.0.

Thinking about doing a few things to make it more fun. Maybe a boss intake manifold, cold air intake and a tune. What would yall suggest for a DIYer? Buy a tuner or go somewhere to get it done?

Leave it stock and hope it last a while.

Get some custom tunes from somewhere, that's the easiest way to get some more power. Look at 5 star tuning, that's where I got mine from.

Which tune did you land on? Running regular or premium etc?

              I got a 87 eco, 87 perf/tow and a 91perf. I usually leave it on the 87 perf/tow though. The 91 you can definitely tell a difference.

I have a K&N Cold Air Intake I'm wanting to get rid of. Took it off of my 2018 that I bought used.

My coworker put a blower on his- lifted 4x4
He recently towed his can am whiz bang sxs to Colorado and back.
Said his mileage got better towards the mountains and towed at 17mpg. (I’m curious as to if the calculation includes being off for larger than stock tires).
My truck can barely do better than 17 unloaded much less towing. (6.7 diesel)

He seems happy with the results.
Blower was some ~$8k if I remember correctly.
He installed himself so that doesn’t include labor.

not what you’re asking about, but maybe someone clicking on this thread can get some use out of it

Blower. If no $$$ for that, then GT350 intake and retune. Long tube headers and 3" all the way back.

But seriously. Get the SC. Only downfall is in Texas you will get heat soak. So you should probably go turbo instead. Then you are having fun.

I wouldn't believe your buddy for a second LOL. A SC always robs MPG (It uses HP just to spin it, and unlike a turbo, you can't stay out of the boost).

Get a Whipple and a under drive pully and a tune and get a easy 700+ hp.

                          True dat. Coworker, not buddy.
Yeah when he said it I had to hold back any facial expressions that might contradict his claim. (Which I’m terrible at)

If he wants to think he got 17 mpg towing a sxs, more power to him. Maybe it was a magical tank of fuel with a heck of a tailwind.

Well I ordered the Boss intake ($250 for open box) and Rough Country CAI for $150 from American Trucks. I've narrowed down my tune search to OZ Tuning for now. They have a tune that is not octane specific which i like. Tuner and tune for $600. 5 Star tunes seem to offer only generic octane specific tunes and I'd rather start running E85/flex fuel when I'm near a station that sells it. I won't get it installed/tuned until it cools off a bit!

Got my boss 302 intake installed. Took a full day of work but I'm a little slow and methodical. Have the OZ Omega tune installed now. Love the sound and power! It really has a lot more pep. My gas mileage has gone down since I'm a little pedal heavy. Definitely worth the upgrade!
