Howdy TBH. Some may remember I posted on here a few months back asking for info on solar leases, in which TBH came through in typical fashion with some great information. The group that was in contact with my folks said they're putting all projects on hold for now. In the meantime, a company reached out to my folks about placing wind turbines on their property. Looking for any and all information you all can offer up. Things to be mindful of, compensation expectations, etc. Thanks!

I have declined several offers. Now I get to look at them because they surround me. It is not a life changing amount of money like oil & gas can be unless you have large property and lots of turbines. Plus, normal length of contract is you giving up 30 YEARS of access rights to them. Not something I wanted to do.

I look at the flashing red lights from our porch every night north of Mineral/Bee county , properties are coming up for sale now near the turbines and solar farms but now the countryside is destroyed and the they are just sitting on market, half the time those **** things do not even move!

My friend’s ranch is a few miles west of Mineral on the south side of Hwy 623. We watch the same towers from his front porch.

I'm in NW Iowa now.
My hometown is surrounded by them. Every direction i look i see several at night i see the flashing red lights.
We have one not to far from the shop, we can hear the blades woosh when they're spinning.
I've spoken to 2 farmers who have them on their farm property, or the farm property they lease.
The first one I spoke with said him and his brother have on there property 4. They get paid $10k/year per wind turbine. They lost 5 acres of production land for easements and such.
The second one had one put up on leased land. They needed 5 acres for 2 years to build it. They did pay him for lost revenue. He lost 1.25 acres of production land for easements and such.
He also stated that crops don't grow as well in the 5 acres they used to build it. He said the ground is compacted more there and even setting his plow to the deepest setting doesn't get deep enough to break up the compaction. He doesn't get compensated for lost production. I have no idea how much he lost.

We are building a solar/wind farm as well as a Green Hydrogen plant. Couple of things to make sure of. Security bond in place before any construction and have a lawyer with knowledge of them look it over. Easy to miss things if you don't know what you are looking for. The solar is a lot more money but you cannot use any of the land but, it pays so much you can buy more land.
Our first project is 5000 acres and we have 17,000 acres under contract with other landowners asking for more information.
My viewpoint on the green energy is it's coming and we should make as much money as we can otherwise someone comes in with imminent domain power and does the project anyway.

Friends I have regret letting them install them on their land. They have had too much trouble with gates not being shut, trash thrown out the window or flying out of the back of workers vehicles, missing items around the barn and not near the money they were told that would be coming in!!
