Yes, there is a function kind of like a garage door that allows you to open it.

I looked heavily at this style too but I wasn’t sure how secure the sides were. It didn’t seem like they “locked in” once everything was secured. I’m sure I’m overthinking it but oh well.

I ended up ordering the roll-n-lock M series. Should get here this week

I had Roll-N-Locks on my previous 2 trucks... loved them both never had and issue with the vinyl over the aluminum. I went with a Retrax(Aluminum) on my current truck ONLY because it had a T-channel option. Now that I have had both...... I think I would be happier with the Roll-N-Lock if it had a T-channel. The RNL canister is a little smaller, it doesn't get near as hot underneath the cover( maybe the vinyl over the aluminum) and the operation of the open/close anywhere doesn't seem very robust. The side operation on the Retrax is nice thou.

I would never own a truck without an electric cover, everything stays dry, clean, and secure. I put my essential tools, straps etc. in a dewalt plastic tool box and I generally strap it to the side of the bed.
My dad has the Pace Edwards electric version - it came with a used truck he bought but it’s only maybe 2 years old. He’s only had it a few months but he likes it so far. His only complaint is that he feels like the motor is a little weak - like it might be going out.

Retrax is the only way to go. Lockable at any point. Metal supports a few hundred pounds on the top of the cover. water tight. I have had one on the last 2 trucks I own and will not have another. the bed space it takes up is fine I just put smaller stuff under it. It covers the area of the bed that you want covered. and you do not have to figure out how to pull the wire to release it or the wire get stuck on stuff you shove in. Retrax all the way.

I have never wanted the electric version as It slides very easy and I figure that is just something else that could go wrong and I would be ******.

I've had both the Roll-N-Lock and the Retrax and as others have said, the Retrax is hands down the best. It's much easier to operate and locks better, it's stronger and more heavy duty, it rolls better and it protects from rain better.
