How are your dove fields looking?

I spent some time this weekend driving around Shackelford, Eastland and part of Stephens County. I guess the rain fell at the right times this year - sunflowers are plentiful just about everywhere - ripe and ready to be shredded. There will be plenty of seed - just hoping the birds show up. How's it looking where you plan to hunt?

I’m about to start discing. Quite a few doves already here! I’m optimistic. We’ve had some timely rains and got 7.25” in July so we were glad to have that.

Looks like that high pressure is moving east and it’s gonna be hot and dry for a couple weeks at least, here.

Dove season is creeping up on us!

If they look anything like my cattle range & hay field, they'll starve to death.

dead - from every leaf being eaten off every stalk by deer. Electric fence next year

I keep driving by all the sunflower fields and can't help but wonder how in the world do they plant them to make them all face the same direction each time.

Dried out a little early, but lots of seed. Be shredding some here pretty soon.

Just looking for a place to take the son for his first dove hunt. Man $200/person for 1 afternoon hunt seems to be the 2023 going rate. I remember when we just asked if we could go stand out in someones field.
