    Cell phone boosters

My wife and I are thinking of getting one for when we go camping. We don’t know much about them. What’s good and what should we watch out for?

I don't know anything about mobile boosters, but the We Boost (Wilson Electronics) are great. We are in the middle of nowhere Iowa. The nearest tower is 4-5 miles away. We are in a metal building (barndo). We have almost no service outside and great service inside. We have the directional antenna and the unit that is recommended for a medium size home.

We also use Weboost but in our RV. I got the small room version, not the RV version since we have a small RV. Like Mike, it has a directional antenna. One thing to remember is there has to be a signal to boost for it to work for you.

Weboost. They make several different models. I’ve got the Reach OTR on my pickup.

FYI. I was told by a guy at S. Llano River SP in Junction that supposedly knew stuff that the directional antennas worked better if stationary. There is an app I use to know where to aim the antenna called Opensignal. It will also test the signal you are receiving.

We are going on year 13-14 with a WeBoost with one upgrade in between and still going strong at the lease. Metal building and all. We have the 5000 sq ft version with a directional antenna because the 1500 sq ft wasn't available. You'll have to rig up something portable if you take it with you camping like in an RV. There is also a 12 volt version for a car called a Drive I believe. I use an older version of the Drive in a bag with a feeder battery for my blinds I hunt with poor signal....one of my blinds is pretty bad and one of my favorite turkey areas for a popup on our lease is as well. Its nice to take a simple set up with me to those places so I can keep in contact with other members and for safety reasons.
