I tried the search function for this new TBH site, but did not have any success. I am planning a suprise trip to Hot Springs, AR next month with my wife. She is typically the one who researches lodging, restaurants, and things to see and do. I am beginning to research the above items, and feel a little out of my wheel house. If anyone in the TBH braintrust is familiar with Hot Springs and has any suggestions regarding the above items, your recommendations would certainly be appreciated. Also, I will be driving from Houston to Hot Springs, and am wondering if there is some amazing/out of this world restaurant I should stop at for lunch/dinner along the way.

We stayed a night in Hot Springs last November on our way to Nashville and stayed at Oak Lawn Casino. We ate dinner there, so I am hoping someone else can give you restaurant ideas, cause I wouldn't do that again. The Casino is very small, but it was in the middle of the week and wasn't too busy.
Probably the best part was we got a room that over looked the race track, pretty close to the track in the middle of a turn. Was a great view, watching the horses get their legs stretched and having a coffee was pretty cool.
I don't have any more info on the location, sorry.

The Casino is fun to stay. If you want something more private look at rent a house boat on lake Ouachita. its about 30 minutes from the town of Hot Springs, or rent a house in Hot Springs Village. You can find a house on one of the ten or so lakes inside the village. They also have a bunch of golf courses inside the village.
