    Deep cycle battery size?

I'm going to put in a gate opener, Ghost brand, single gate, and want to use a different wireless system than the OEM model due to dollars. I'm looking at Remootio 3 BT/WIFI controller. The opener system comes with a single 12v battery, 7 ah and the box has room for two. I don't know that there will be enough power even with two in parallel from this type battery. My question is, who makes a small, deep cycle battery, sealed acid? Not doing lithium on this application. I'd like to not have to deal with a car-sized battery if possible. Appreciate any input.

Bill, you might take a look at some small batteries that are bigger than the 7ah one that it comes with. For example, on my mobility scooter, it came with a pair of 10ah 12 volt AGM batteries. After looking online, I found 12ah, 15ah, and bigger ones too. If I were you, I would measure how much room you have, and then go online and find the biggest battery that will fit inside the battery box. Instead of two 7ah batteries, a single 12ah, or a single 15ah battery might work better for what you are wanting.

My daughters gate works just fine on a 7ah battery. Remember, that battery doesn't work for lengthy periods. Just open and close cycle. I assume you will have a solar charger on it.

I have looked at several of those. The BT/WIFI device may draw more but I'm not sure. There will be a 30 Watt panel attached.

See what I typed above. Not sure what the add on device will use but I wouldn't think much and yes, 30 watt panel.

A Bluetooth module typically won’t pull much power. With a 30 watt panel, I would think a 10 ah battery would be more than enough, or just add that second 7ah battery in parallel. You won’t ever have to worry about it.

I have the full ghost setup with all ghost components on two separate gates. Both of them have two of the 7ah batteries in parallel. I have never had an issue but I wouldn't trust just one battery. In the winter you may go several days with almost no charge and you will be glad you have two. The ghost brand batteries are only about $30 each, An extra $30 is well worth the peace of mind after going to all the trouble top put in the gates.

We have a ghost opener, and we replaced ghost batteries with two deer feeder batteries

Add a solar panel, and it opens and closes our high fence gate just fine

Good to know on the draw. BTW, the pump setup with the Epever unit has been flawless. May add a second battery to it come winter.

I will definitely run two batteries. Good to hear of others' experience with Ghost. Rod, I would think gates for a HF setup would be heavier as well.
