    Rat snake or copperhead?

This fella is keeping me company while I am fixing the well. Does he die today or get a pass? What is he?

Copperhead by pattern. Color is washed out in pic?

    Let him live.

Copperhead with non-usual coloring. He has the classic Hershey Kiss patterns though.

Should be dead already if close to your house

Well he gotta go then. I asked him nicely to leave and he just stared at me.

He’s more grayish than brown. Kinda threw me.

He's probably about to shed his skin. Its my experience they lighten up and get a blue/grey tone before they shed.

We see a ton of rattlers down south (35 killed this year) but never seen a copperhead in person. Head shape screams venomous (to me) though!
