This is was my thought too. Some turn buckle braces anchored to rafters/perlings. 3-4 or so. I think the Williamson County Sheriffs Rodeo arena big fan is set up as such.

My BAF in my living room vaulted ceiling has a 7’ drop rod. Its done good but developed a minor wobble over the past 5 years or so.

      FWIW…
Ever so often the BAF gets a glitch where it doesnt want to work after its been turned off at the wall switch, not the remote. It goes nutty backwards and forwards in very minor movements. It corrects after shutting it down completely and letting it sit then reengaging. Its only happened twice in 5 years.

I would drop. the fan down below the partial wall and put 3 chains on
        the down rod

Had the fan setup for a month or so now. Went with a 5' downrod keeping it just out of the wind from what I had guessed. It has done really well being about a foot above my beams, handling some straightline winds the other day without an issue. During the winds just mentioned, we did have some type of dust devil come through the patio. That had it swinging like it was on a carnival ride, but was short lived and wasn't an issue when it was done. Watching it swing was a hoot!

As far as output, we have the 84" model and it does pretty good. Figured it would have thrown a little more air, but good enough for the price. It was about $2500 cheaper than the big arse fans so I'm good with it!
