    Battery powered weedeater

I have a stihl gas powered for normal jobs but don’t always carry it along with me.

would like something I can leave at my dads house for use there locally. my dad had a stihl battery powered but doesn’t work well. I think it is fsa 57. I think it is a 36v battery. The chain saw off the same battery seems to work well enough.

I do have a greenworks 40v pole saw that works well for what I use it.

Anyone with experience or review of the 49v greenworks weedeater? Or should I cut bait now and go to a new battery and platform?

I bought a DeWalt 20 volt with the folding shaft (no big deal there other than it helps identify which model) I mow about 5 acres with fences, house, office Pool, back yard fence concrete driveway, etc... Since I got that thing, I have not edged once!! My wife does it while I mow!! BIG WIN there!! It also has the best head on it of any weedeater I've ever had... String never breaks and it's so easy to refill. Don't know if it's the head or the DeWalt string, may be both, but to refill, you just pull off about 20 or so feet of line and thread it straight thru the head, then wind it up... simple as that. That string trimmer and the DeWalt pole saw are 2 of the best DeWalt tools I've ever bought, and I've got a BUNCH of DeWalt stuff!!

I run Milwaukee m18 for all tools and the weed eater is pretty awesome. It’s very strong compared to others I’ve tried. The pole saw attachment is also fantastic.

My experience is same as above. Use it around the house, barn and front gate. Battery last about 45 minutes of random use. String and the fact it doesn’t require plugs, fuel or earphones makes it a win for me.

Milwaulkee here, 3 yrs old and still going strong.
With the exception a very few situations, you won't know it's not gas.
Milwaulkees attachements are nice to, and give you some versality.
The pole saw works good for what it is, and for carrying around on the 4 wheeler it's great, but can't really be compared to gas.
The brushcutter works really well, and is almost on par with the weedeater.
On concrete driveways, shop floor, your truck bed, trailer, etc...the broom is the bees knees, sucker comes in handy for all kinds of things.
On the flip side,I did the same thing as you with my mom in, but went the Ryobi route and all the same attachements, plus the chainsaw and blower,
Moms powerhead is 7yrs old, and still going strong.
Pound for pound you can't tell much difference in their upper end stuff vs Milwaulkee for half the price or less.

I bought the Torro 60v because of its price point and 3 year warranty.
                      It's nothing special.

I have a coworker that raves about his 60 volt (maybe it's a 56?) Dewalt.
He has a few acres to cover and claims it was worth the extra upfront cot to him.

I have the ego 56 lineup and have been pleased with it. I have had it for over 3 years with no issues. Mower, blower and weed eater.

The greenworks is 40v…..honestly do not remember on the Stihl. But I believe it’s the smallest one they make.

I too have the Milwaukee m18 fuel weedeater and the edger attachment. It’s freaking awesome. I got the blower too. I need to look into other attachments.

I can’t go electric mower. That’s where I draw the line LOL. But I highly recommend the Milwaukee so far.
