Any tips/tricks for trapping rabbits that are eating my lawn?

I have a box trap, and I have some steel traps, somewhere. Any tips? Particularly, what bait. These are cotton tails, btw.

I know how to catch a unique rabbit and I know how to catch a tame rabbit, but I don't know about cottontails.

If you can identify the pathways that they frequent, a snare, leg trap or a connibear trap will work well.
A connibear 110 should work for cottontails and that would be my preference.

Pellet guns, slingshots, and archery equipment makes for good rabbit traps.

Pellet under the ear, flour and brown lightly, make gravy and simmer rabbit in gravy until tender, serve over rice.

Apples work really good for bait. Some times rabbits don’t like going in the small steel box traps. When I was a kid I would make them out of wood and chicken wire About 16x16x30 and have a up and down sliding trap, door.Imwound up mostly catching coons and possums though.

I followed your mouse trapping thread. You should probably stay out of this one.

I can’t imagine rabbits having that much of an impact on your lawn unless you have an extremely small yard.

How bad could it be? I have Jack rabbits eating mine but never can tell that they hurt anything. I mow every 3 days and actually see their rabbit crap. You must have a herd of wabbits.

I'm going pellet gun in the ear hole. Beginning as soon as the pellet gun arrives. I've had it with the little bastages.

Tie a couple of cats to a stake with a chain and they will take care of it.
Don’t feed the cats, they will work harder.

Neighborhood rabbits are out of control in N. Ft. Worth. No predators, can't let cats run around, etc. I see them all over the neighborhood, all hours of the day and night. Eating grass, flowers, rabbit urine killing grass, etc. We've tried the sprays, powders, cayenne pepper, etc. To no avail. You can see the damage they do every morning. I hate it, but they won't control themselves, so.....

Sounds like how we caught them when we were kids (western PA) Try the box trap with apples

Wife and i love the rabbits coming right up to the house,,, we have 5 or 6 everyday morning noon and night munching on grass,,, we don.t even try to run them off and they do not kill enough grass with urine to even see it,,, now the poodle on the other hand can kill a lot of grass! What little bunny foo foo might munch on does no damage next to the amardillo that passed away yesterday! Freaking pot holes everywhere ! I welcome the rabbits!
