    Costa Rica

The wife and I along with another couple are planning a trip to Costa Rica end of November/first of December. Planning on either Jaco, Los Suenos, or Quepos, so looking for recommendations on one of those. Need probably a day off shore and a day inshore for my buddy and I. Wives need a pool, nice beach, and some shopping. Prefer a house or condo over a resort.
Anyone have any good reports/suggestions based off of experience on one of these places?

Went to Quepos last December and had a blast. We fished with Quepos Fish Adventure and stayed at a resort. Going back 12/30/23 and fishing with them again through a package deal (rental house & fishing) they found us. Take a look at their site.

I know a lot of people like Jaco.....I am the exception It is too touristy for me.

I've been to Quepos a few times....last time in March. We also fished with Quepos Fish Adventures. AND....found out Connie used to be a TBH'er before moving down there. Super nice people!
We did both inshore and offshore. They had warned us the fishing for marlin was not great when we were there and offered to do another type of fishing. We were given the option, and Kevin chose to take his chances on marlin. The Captain worked hard and got us hooked up on not one, but 2 marlin.

Connie did tell me she has quite a few houses that can go in a package deal. I would definitely contact her.

Just sent them an email. Hopefully the fishing is decent that time of year?

I am with Mary on Jaco,
Quepos for fishing and Manuel Antonio if you like the beach and turisty nightlife.
If you are looking for laidback hippy vibe/surfing go to Malpais

I spend 4-6 weeks a year down there fishing the different tournaments.

We stay in Los Suenos when fishing out of there. I’d fish with Bubba(http://captbubbacarter.com) or one of they Fly Boats out of the Maverick group for offshore. No inshore recommendation. If fishing inshore, make the drive to Quepos.

In Quepos we stay in the Tanager house at manuelantonioestates.com. We prefer to be closer to the marina and find that it works well for us. Lookup Zapata Fishing for your inshore fishing needs. Connie is good people and another option. She can arrange everything for you if you want. She’s the owner/operator of I think 7 boats. She can book rooms, transportation, private chefs, excursions, etc.

If you want to be in Jaco, we stay at the Oceano. It’s always been good for us. The breakfast that’s included is nice. It has a very laid back atmosphere. Take the short drive south to Hermosa Beach to get away from the crowds and enjoy the beach.

Jaco has become a sewer. Lot's of other places to visit in CR.

They told us that it is the best time of the year for Marlin out of Quepos. We will be going back during that time frame next time!
Here is a link to the story and the pics.

Also, lift a weight or two before going. Them things are strong!!!

A friend has stayed there at the golf course and said it was great.
I think we've narrowed it down to the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area and fishing with Quespos Fishing Adventures.
