    What wind prediction site?

I try and fish when the wind is gonna be 12-15 or less. I woke up yesterday and wind was predicted 20+. Go outside after drinking coffee and killing time and it’s 5-10. It’s not the first time I’ve missed fishing time because the wind forecast was so far off. Is there a reliable place to look? If not I may just plan on going every morning and just turning around and drink coffee inside from thermos if it’s windy

Idk how accurate it is, but I like the graphical nature and layer buttons of https://www.windy.com

1+ on Windy. It's usually correct.

I've always used Windfinder and found it pretty reliable.

Glen, I think they only have subscription based services, but there are a lot in the sailing community that use predict wind. Reports are, it's fairly accurate. I've never used it personally, just reporting what I hear.

I usually use wunderground.com (the 10 day forcast screen shows best windgraphs)...seems to be fairly accurate within a day or two, but I am sure they just pull their data from somewhere else.

I use Willy weather. Disclaimer, they were wrong about 2 months ago.

Glen, I got the same wind limits for my lil 16' river jon. I've been using Weather Bug app. But I don't pay attention to the 10 day forecast. I only look at the hourly forecast. Most of the time, the 10 day don't even match the hourly. The hourly has done me pretty good for the most part.

I use it in the mountains as well as on the water. Works great.

I use Windy. They have a few apps but the one I prefer is Windy.app. You can add favorite spots and use various settings for forecasts. It shows tide, wave direction, current, as well as wind.

I use several and add them all together, that's usually what it's blowing where I am. If it says 10-15 it means 25, lol

I like the Weather Underground 10 day chart. Windy is pretty good too.

IMO Windfinder very often shows that is is going to be windier than it is. I look at all of those daily and Windfinder will have you expecting a typhoon and you end up with fishable winds way too often. Willy Weather can be good for real time wind but you need to know where it is measuring the wind. For example, their Palacios reading comes from the Palacios airport right by the bay so it is pretty accurate as to what you will see on the water. Their Matagorda reading comes from the Bay City airport which is rarely ever close to what you will see on the water because it is 20 miles inland.
