Caught a species of snake I hadn't caught in a while today. First time I've ever seen a Yellow -Bellied Racer this color. Normally they're green or greyish but this one was more of a tan color. It didn't catch it in the picture but it had an iridescent sheen to it in the sunlight. I ain't posted pictures since the change but I'll see if I can figure it out.

Must be something it the air. Lol! Opened the garage door yesterday morning and there was a plain belly water snake there and when I stepped towards him he reared up at me and wasn’t having none of it. Feisty.Comment

Yeah those water snakes have a bad attitude. Racers are usually that way at first but normally they chill out fairly quickly. Those water snakes smell funky so I try not to handle them too much. If I see one that's uncommon for this area or really big I'll catch it but I don't know that I have ever caught one that didn't bite me or try its best to bite me.Comment

I hear ya. There’s a few snakes that I’ll catch and tame down, even make pets outta them for a while but them water snakes ain’t on the list.Comment

I caught a little garter snake out in front of the house so he wouldn't get squashed on the street but generally I don't pick those up on account of that musk they put off. Them son of a guns smell bad. I like 'em around the house though cause they'll eat stuff I don't particularly want coming inside and living with me.Comment
