isnt there a way to check your credit annually for free?

something has come up and we need to check my wifes. how can we do that?

I have tried the freecreditreport.com and freecreditscore.com and they both want credit cards and to bill you 18 dollars a month after the 30 day trial...

you can get the credit report free, but the score usually cost you. if you have a friend that works for a car dealership of sorts have him run you credit. i have done this in the past.

You just have to cancel before the 30 day trial to not be billed..Most of the free ones are that way..

Unless you just got married and she has a lot of cards in her name the credit score should be about the same as yours.

Yea most places combine the two for the most part. If your looking into financing anything.

You can do this, but in effect it puts an inquiry on your credit report and can hurt your score. Having too many inquiries lowers your score. They work it on a 6 month period for inquiries. Sign up for one of the credit deals and cancel before the end of the free period. Hope it's nothing serious on your wifes. Good luck.

I am a mortgage banker, so I deal with credit all day. Married couples can and often do have very different credit scores. Balances in relation to credit limits plays a role in your score. The age of your tradelines also has an impact on the score. Of course your payment history is one of the most important. Inquiries can lower your score, but for mortgage financing, you should be able to have multiple companies look at your credit within 45 days of the first pull without it lowering your score.

If you have USAA $5 thing you get a monthly update and you can check your score anytime. Just go to the link in your email alert or on the website. It should be listed with all your accounts.

we have poor credit hers is 5 points better than mine, and what we were looking for is good (not being cheated by someone else)...

well not bad. But very little and the 2 accounts I have are bad, and from 05 06...

If she doesn't know her USAA number, you can find it under your online ID and password in the My Profile section under Family Members or you can call USAA.
And no, there is NO service that will give you a credit SCORE for free. NO ONE, no matter what they say.
