    Another home processor question?

Anyone use a meat mixer? Had one in my hands, headed towards the register yesterday and talked myself out of it. Thinking this morning I might head back and get it before I start my 20lb hot link build.

I just chunk everything and mix the meat this way. I haven't had any problems with the meat not being consistent in seasoning. I just did 40# of brats last month. They turned out just fine. If you're going to invest some money....I'd get a auto stuffer with a foot pedal! This will be my next investment!

I can't justify a mixer. Like Keegan said, throw it all on a table, season, and grind. It will be mixed well and money can be spent elsewhere.

I can't think of any reason not to use a meat mixer, but all I do is mix mine by hand in large stainless bowls both before and after the grind. I then give it 24hrs in the fridge before I freeze it. Always been satisfied with evenness of the spice.

We have a hand crank model it works well it's just a little more stuff to clean when your done. I always preseason before grinding.

That's the one I was going to get. I was just trying to avoid the numb, painful hands of mixing all that cold meat. I don't have an issue evenly mixing by hand. Clean up would be a negative. That's my least favorite of the whole process. I enjoy doing my own but dread the clean up at the end.

I bought one for my FIL last year. He said its a life saver, one of the best gifts he has gotten. No more frozen fingers...

I just mine in a big ice chest and mix it by hand. It works great.

Same here on the 50-400 link makings...and a tub to do the smaller batches. We would have to have a helluva mixer for the big days. A small mixer would just drag us down.

Have you found Briskets on sale anywhere? Im still waiting to do my hamburger grind, but the brisket prices are about $3/lb around plano.

No I have not... I'm looking but mainly for pork butts because we'll be doing sausage here very soon. SAMs was $1.78/lb unless you bought a case and it drops down to $1.42. I am hoping for some of the .99/lb sales soon.

I like the ice chest idea. Big, and insulated to keep it cold while stuffing. Fairly easy to clean too!
