    Heart Shot Survey

Was wondering what is the longest and shortest distance a white tail has traveled that you have had a true heart shot... before dropping dead.

I like lung shots better but the furthest I've had a heart shot deer go was 70 yards or so. But if I hit the heart then I shot low so................

Crazy thing this year on a doe. 22 yrd shot, she never moved. Saw the blood just pouring out of her and then she just fell over after probaly 10 seconds. Once I opened her up it reveled the broadhead cut through the top half of the heart.

Shot a 10 this season, thunderhead went right through the heart, he died in my food plot, I watched him die, he ran 35-40 yards. I usually aim at lungs tho

Its amazing that they can go that far shot in the heart...tough critters. Ive never had one go futher than 20 yards with a true heart shot. Like RD stated lung shots are the preferred shot unless they are 12 yds or closer...then its heart. I love that shot.

Shot the buck in my avatar at 12 yards straight through the heart and he walked maybe 10 yards straight to my blind and then fell over dead about 3 steps from me. A week earlier i shot a 9 straight through the heart and he made it 99 yards down the road from the shot location

I shot a doe this year 20yds away. She ran about 40yds. When I field dressed her I found my arrow 3/4 the way through the heart.

Shot a doe this year that went maybe 35 yard's. Shot a buck a few year's ago that went about the same. Both heart shot's. Lung's are great and what I usually go for, but once that pumper stop's there's no way lung's can get oxygen to the muscle's anyway.
