Options for tailgate feeder controller?

Other than buying a separate remote are there any other options for operating a tailgate feeder? Having 20’ of cord draped across the bed and through the window is a hassle.

Is it possible to plug into the trailer light receiver and run it off of a blinker or headlights?

Yes but i dont know how... i run all of ours to the battery then install a toggle switch in the cab some where

You can run a cord from your battery to a toggle switch in the cab of your truck, then wire the feeder to the toggle switch. I've also seen it plug into the trailer lights and ran off a blinker and headlights.

Yes you can xo that but may have to up the fuze. Just get a trailer harness from auto store and wire it in.

Put a battery on it like a regular feeder and then get one of the remote controlled units. Or I think Texas hunter product makes one

you can run your wire into your trucks existing wiring harness for trailer towing, just put it into the running light prong and when you want to throw corn, just turn your parking lights on.

You can't use a blinker wire for power, the feeder will come on every time you step on the brake. Headlights would be a little tricky driving in the dark where you don't want corn.

Just put a toggle switch in the truck somewhere and run a wire from it to the back. Then find yourself a chasis ground back there, and run the two wires into a 2 way trailer type plug.

Why not mount a switch in the cab and run a single hot wire to the plug at the receiver?

There are only 2 wires, one is hot and the other is ground. Connect the ground to the frame or receiver with a self tapping screw.

I wired my 4 wheeler for a switch on the handle bar, and have done the mounted switch in a couple of my Jeeps now too. It works great.

BTW - yes you can tap into the turn signal, but be aware it is going to supply power to the feeder like on-off-on-off-on-off Don't think that is going to work real well....

All I can say is if you go with the headlight method you will change it after the first time you use it.

If you have fog lights in the front you can use that. Mine is tied into one of the fog lights in the front. When I want corn I just pull the fog light switch. Works great.

We put a trolling motor switch on the floor and just use you foot to turn it on and off. Best way I have ever seen one rigged.

IMO, this is the best option. If I was doing it, I'd use a momentary button or toggle. You can get either at Radio Shack.
