    Moving to Victoria...

Well, I finished up my Administrative Fellowship and have landed a job as an Adminsitrator for two clinics in Victoria. It was exactly what I was looking for in a town that reminds me a lot of Bryan/College Station (without all the Aggies).

I have only been through Victoria on the way to the coast. My wife lived in Victoria 12 years ago while completing her clinical rotations for PA school in Galveston.

My wife and I found an apartment (the Whittington) to live in for a few months while we figure out the landscape. We learned pretty quickly that finding a house to rent is a tough one with all the oilfield activity and CAT building a new plant down there.

Any good local restraunts? Things to do with kids (We have a three year old and a soon to be two year old)?

Any other TBH'ers down there? Any place to shoot? My first day is 1/30/2012. Would like to have dinner and meet some folks.

I've lived in Victoria for the past 4 years. I went to school at A&M and it does kind of remind me of College Station; has that small town feel.

There are some good locally owned restaurants here; a few of my favorites are Greek Brothers, The Pumphouse, Sky Restaurant, and The Oak Room. These are all steakhouses/american food places. There's a lot of really good mexican food places. My favorites are La Hacienda, Los Reyes, La Tejanita, and Las Palmas.

For the kids there's always the zoo, Riverside Park, and during the summer The Generals (a collegiate baseball league) plays here. Their games are fun for the kids as well as adults.

As far as shooting goes, I just shoot in my backyard, but don't know if there's anything else.

If you need any help with good neighborhoods when looking for a house, let me know.

My grandparents live there. So we're down there quite often. One place we always have to eat at is Siestas. For seafood, I suggest Baytown Seafood (not Bayside) or Texas Seafood Express isn't too bad. If your in the mood for some cajun food, The Lost Cajun on Coleto Creek is awesome. Probably take you about 20 minutes to get there though. The Texas Zoo in Victoria is pretty cool, small, but good.

      Hope this helps.

Ventura's has the best cheese enchiladas that I've found.
Mumford's BBQ is the best I've found also.

I live in the area, born and raised just a bit away, We live about 15 miles outside of Victoria now.
There are lots of resturants, lots of things to do with the little ones. Some great things and places have been mentioned so far.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate, my husband and I both grew up here and can (hopefully) help with any questions you have!

I live in corpus christi, and hunt in victoria. My favorite sea food is at bayside on navarro street and I think some of the best bbq in the state is at aunt jo,s bbq. I would like to live in victoria instead of corpus. Riverside golf course is one of the nicest I have ever been on.

I know you mentioned you have a 3 and 2 year olds, so this isn't a "today" thought, but if you're planning on potentially establishing roots (buying a house), make sure you get aligned on where you want our kids going to school. You have three options (maybe more private) in VISD with other alternatives if you decide to live outside Victoria and drive in for work.
