so, lets say you're headed to the park with your family for a bike ride on a Sunday afternoon when you notice a guy riding you really close. No big deal at first but then he floors it and whips around you nearly taking the back of your truck off. Now I am a little preterbed but still no big deal. Next he is beside you shooting the bird so you honk and motion a "hey, whats the problem signal". Next you are stopped at the red light and he gets out and comes up to the truck. I roll down the passenger side window (where my wife is sitting by the way and my 2 kids are in the back) and i ask him what i did wrong that has made him soo mad. they guy never will tell me what i did wrong....just only cussed me out. I told him to watch his language in front of my family which didnt help. then he says pull over at the gas station with him. At this point im pretty fired up and completey ready to go meet him, but my kids were crying and my wife was begging me not to. he pulls over and just sit there shooting me the bird as a drive off. How do you handle and idiot like this?

Do what you did and remove yourself. What good will you do your family in jail, when you knock him out and he cracks his head on a curb and dies.

Grandma knows best!!!!!!!!
Got a letter from Grandma the other day. She writes...
The other day I went up to a local Christian bookstore and saw a "Honk if you love Jesus" bumper sticker.
I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting, so I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper.
Boy, I'm glad I did! What an uplifting experience that followed!
I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord and how good He is... and I didn't notice that the light had changed.
It is a good thing someone else loves Jesus because if he hadn't honked, I'd never have noticed!
I found that LOTS of people love Jesus! Why, while I was sitting there, the guy behind started honking like crazy, and then he leaned out of his window and screamed, "For the love of GOD! GO! GO! Jesus Christ, GO!"
What an exuberant cheerleader he was for Jesus! Everyone started honking!
I just leaned out of my window and started waving and smiling at all these loving people. I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love!
There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him yelling something about a "sunny beach"...
I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air.
Then I asked my teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant, he said that it was probably a Hawaiian good luck sign or something. Well, I've never met anyone from Hawaii, so I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign back.
My grandson burst out laughing...why, even he was enjoying this religious experience!
A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and started walking towards me. I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is when I noticed the light had changed.
So, I waved to all my sisters and brothers grinning, and drove on through the intersection. I noticed I was the only car that got through the intersection before the light changed again and I felt kind of sad that I had to leave them after all the love we had shared, so I slowed the car down, leaned out of the window and gave them all the Hawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away.
Praise the Lord for such wonderful folks!
Grandma
You did the right thing. I'm the type of folk who just waves back to whatever vulgarity someone has. If my windows are down and they start hollaring I just tell them "Hope your day gets better.." or some smart comment like that.

That's a tough one...I've always been able to detect when things are fixing to get ugly. I only stop, even at a red light when I'm alone,if there's a possibility for something like that, but if you don't stop, there's always that chance that they'll follow....There are a bunch of "Straight up nut jobs" out ther now a days. You did all you could do in my opinion,Without the possibility of going to jail.

You sure as **** don't roll down your passenger's side window where your wife is sitting!
Best thing is to remove yourself from the situation that HE is creating. If HE has a problem it's just that: HIS problem. If he pursues it after you did all you could, including calling 911 if you feel threatened that much (but then that's only to cover your own arse because what's a cop going to do after the fact?), then defend yourself and your family with extreme prejudice.

De-escalate the event. I wouldn't have even rolled the window down. I would never make eye contact with the guy either. He can yell, scream, punch my car or do whatever he wants. The car can be fixed, and I will make sure the Police are notified and on the way.
Now, if he breaks my window out, I hope he realizes he just threatened my life/family and my "castle" according to recent laws passed. That's the only time I would escalate the event, and we all know what that means.

Wow..... not real sure but maybe the law can enlighten us a bit more, but me and a buddy got in a knock down drag out fight with two guys at a stop light one time. Whooped em pretty good and held them there til the law got there because they were both drunk......
The law told us that since we had exited the vehicle, realistically we were threatening their live as well and could have shot us...... he may have just been saying that but not to sure. I would have never rolled down my wifeys window brother, at least meet him halfway!
