    Electrical question

I am replacing a cieling fan. The mounting is not the problem but the wiring....on the new fan I have three wires, black, black and white, and white.
On my wiring of the house, I have three wires, black, white and uninsulated. On the instructions for the new fan, it is telling me to hook white to white, black and black and white to black, (light kit?). But what do I do with my uninsulated wire on my home wires?
    Help!

It's a ground. There should be a green screw on the mount for your bare.

Should be a ground screw on the fan somewhere. Hook the uninsulated wire to the ground screw.
