X2 on the Juniper, tied to cinder blocks with wire. Just make sure you use enough blocks or fill 'em with sacrete and use less blocks. Willow is the best, but I've got more Juniper (commonly called cedar) than anything.

You can pour sac crete into a five gallon bucket and stick the tree in the bucket so it stands up straight.

Is that legal in a public waterway?
I always heard of people doing this in their own private fishing ponds, but not on public lakes or rivers.

5 gallon buckets with tree trunk put in it fill w/ concrete - but wait until all the green falls off or it will give off a gas of which fish will not come around for months. I got 37 Christmas trees for my dock waiting for the green stuff to drop off and allow it to die. Got my 5 gallon buckets and several bags of concrete. It's helpful to have a barge but I put a couple trees together and with a little help and a graph place the where I want them.

Legal as can be. I'm sure if you use some kind of material that would be hazardous to the lake/fish and got caught you would be in trouble.

I love me some top fishin.

Game warden at Fork told a guy he better not catch him putting PVC "trees" in the lake but he could put all the wood he wanted.

Just be smart when you put brush out and sink it in deeper water than someone will get into if they are skiing etc and it should not be a problem
