Also , make sure you take along plenty of "Gu" or other gel packets to eat along the way - helps to fight "The Bonk" - and remember, in a marathon the 20 mile mark is the halfway point (at least it always feels that way to me!)

I prefer triathlons. Planning on doing my first half ironman in October. Good luck in Houston.

I really want to do a marathon. probably not until late next year. I am training for an Olympic tri next year. Will do several sprints and hope to finish the olypic in October.

I am also doing a cool adventure race at canyon lake.

big 8 - are you doing the one in Florida? I've never done one longer than Olympic distance. Always thought about doing the half at Buffalo Springs in Lubbock but have never gotten dedicated enough for that much training. Still a goal of mine...

I don't run but my wife does, she has joined Team in Training for her first Marathon which will be the Austin Marathon in Feb - and she just did the "run the rock" - half. I ran enough in the Corps - and I didn't like it then and I am pretty sure I'm not going to like it now.

But I do miss running, and the "high" I would get, there was nothin like it!!!

during the spring, summer and fall I run regularly, however, I find in the winter time, if I lay down a while the feeling to run will go away
