What are the laws if an elk gets out of a high fence in Texas? Do you have to have a tag, and is there a season?

i believe they are considered an exotic. if they are on your place, you should be able to shoot them. i just wouldn't be shooting them from the road or tresspassing to get one....

Better listen to this, too. If it has a tag or a visible brand it's livestock. Just like shooting a neighbors cow. Elk are delicious, though. if you know where it came from you might make a trade. How big is the bull?
