I'm looking at a lease in Brady and was wondering what kind of deer they have down there. Also the owner said that they see exotics every now and then. The closest I have hunted to that are was North of San Angelo, so I don't have a whole lot of knowledge of the area. Please post pics or any info you can of the deer in the area. Thanks.

It really depends on where you are and what the neighbors are like. Ronny on here, hunts right out of town and is covered in Axis. We have had them come through our place outside Rochelle a couple times, but have only killed one in 10 years. As far as numbers go, I will tell you that early in the season we see lots of deer. As soon as the shooting starts our deer are gone. I don't mean nocturnal, I mean gone. Not to be seen again until the spring. We have killed 10 P&Y class deer over the past 10 seasons. However, we have gone several without killing bucks at all. This season we killed 3 bucks and 6 does on 730acres. That was hunting pretty hard. My hunting bud killed a doe and that was it. I killed 2 P&Y bucks, but did not kill a buck last year. My son shot a 1.5yo buck at the end of the season that had a broken leg, was a mercy killing. It was a tough year for everyone other than me. We have two paid hunters on the place and have been like that for the past 5 years. Our wives and kids hunt some, but mainly just Tim and I. We could easily shoot our place out with too many hunters.

Have a bowhunting lease 20 miles north of Brady. This year we took 6 "trophy" bucks (4-1/2 yrs or better) between 8 of us. Best grossed 146-5/8 and netted 137. In years past I've shot 2 P&Y bucks off the place, and one that just missed. Almost always see lots of deer and lots of bucks, even after rifle season starts. Have never seen an exotic on it. We had about 1600 acres for the 8 of us this year and will increase to 2600 acres and 12 hunters next season.

Brady is probably one of the coolests places to hunt IMO.
You never know what your going to see while in the stand.
We had three ranches we hunted on. All three where within 3 or 4 miles of each other. All three had a ton of free ranging exotics. There are some MONSTER Axis down there.
We never had a whitetail over 150 inches but we almost ALWAYS saw deer every time you sat in the stand.
