Anyone (Shortbow) know any info on bird numbers right now? Lot's of pressure up there? Never been before, just wondering if I should give it a look. Thanks

I have not hunted on Dam be in several years but when I did hunt it there always seemed to be plenty of ducks.

You need to hit up keith lake and J.D.- I heard from a few that they are killing hell outta greys. My uncle up Taylors is doing decent. He has a few ponds that border J.D. and then the Port Acre Sportsman's club. We don't have crap compared to years past in Cen. Texas. The flood last summer killed us on the lakes. If I am able to make it down there I will call you to make a few hunts with us.-Mike Savoy-

By the way, you will get no where with the fellas on the other board. They are very, very protective of their public hunting spots.

Man, I used to go to "B-Dam" when I was a kid, but haven't been there in years. We used to go to the "West LogJam" and fish a lot. I think they call it Magnolia Bend State Park now. That used to be a beautiful lake, except when you'd show up to fish and there was not water because it had been drained for the rice farmers downstream. Do they still do that in the summertime?

They have had that thing going up and down for the last couple of years but it has mostly been to work on the dam. They dropped it to work on the dam and then when they started filling it up, the engines had seized up in the Turbines so they had to lower it again to fix that.

I think it is getting some pressure right now. I drove over it yesterday around 8:45 and saw 2 duck boats running by as I was heading toward Woodville. 2 boats at 8:45 on a Wednesday makes me think there were another 5 or 10 I could not see.

Yes, we have drained the lake during the summer months for the past couple of years...but it was to try and kill off some of the invasive water plants (giant salvinia and others).
Shane...there are no engines. There are two generators...and no they didn't get clogged up. We had had some contract work going on in the plant for almost a year now...but that has nothing to do with the lake being lowered. Yes, while the lake was down in 2006 there was some work that had to be done on the levy and that took awhile.

Yes, there are some ducks on the lake right now, both the north and south sides of the bridge...but mostly gadwalls and puddle ducks. It's really not worth the effort hunting them due to "lots" of folks trying to hunt the same birds...the compitition of trying to get in the same spot to hunt. This past Saturday, I heard 4 shots...that's it.

This was in April. There should be plenty of food.
