    Anyone hunt with an Eotech?

I got an Eotech for Christmas but I haven't mounted it on my AR15 yet. I am not sure if it will affect using the rifle for hunting. None of my shots are really over 125 yards but with no magnification I son't know if I want to take those shots.

Does anyone use an Eotech with no magnification for hunting? How is it working out for you?

      It is the 512 model.

Yep, for predators. I have a flip-to-the-side 3X magnifier for longer shots. I forget the model number but it's 4-5 years old.

I think its the 512 I have. I'm not confident over 100 with it.

I have the 512 on my AR and I've had no problems with a few hogs and a coyote in the 75-100 yard range. It's done all I needed it to!

yes and I'm not terribly confident making a precision shot with it much over 100. paint the target and pop . . . . . all day long

I have never used one to hunt animals... but I i ahve taken lots of shots past 100, if you aren't confident shooting longer with it and don't want to spend the money on a magnifier get flip up iron sights and turn it off for long shots.

I used a 512 on my AR this year. It is much easier to use then iron sights because you can see the dot in really low light where as the front sight will disappear in the dark. The Eotech is more precise as the dot is 1MOA where as a front sight post is 4MOA thick. I suggest having binoculars with you to help judge whether an animal is legal to shoot.

I would use it on hogs and coyotes in a heart beat. Just practice.

I have mine set up with a Eotech Holographic sight and an XLT250 green light for hogs.
The green light combined with the red reticle is fantastic at night. I keep my shots at 100 yards or less.
