    snake boot question

Ive been thinking about getting a pair of snake proof boots. Been wondering however, is the lower leather portion backed with a bite proof fabric or is it only leather? Im thinking if theyre no different than my regular boots, I could save a bunch of money by just buying some snake proof gators. I would appreciate some advice from people living in thick snake country that use snake boots. Thanks

Depends on the brand. My Redhead snake boots are cordura all over.

That said, I've heard from several people that rattlers can't bite through a normal leather cowboy boot, so gators over boots would be more than adequate.

Gators and heavy leather boots are fine.

The leather is more than adequate to stop a snake bite. Their bite is not that strong. I have been catching and working rattlers and copperheads in snake pits for years and have been bitten hundreds of times and never a penetration with just normal cowboy boots. The only reason I wear Justin snake boots is for the high tops.

All the 'covers' I've tried are immensely hot. Worth it to me to get actual boots.

And you don't look as cool when you wear them with shorts

I wear snake boots every day for work and there's NO better one than Justin's! Prolly the most comfortable boot I've ever worn AND they're snake proof to! Gaiters are bulky and uncomfortable to me; and they're no substitute for a pair of Justin's. Plus, my Justin's are 2 years old and going strong in spite of every day use - no other snake boot I've tried has come close to durability.

I have seen a rattle snake bite through a regular cowboy boot. Justin Cowboy Snake boots rock. Easy on off and they look good if you like a cowboy boot. I think if you die from a snake bite Justin will give your money back!

I had to buy snake boots and have them modified to fit my leg. I went with the chips zip backs and had a boot maker let out the back. They are way more comfortable than any pair of reg cowboy boots and tall enough to ease my mind. Btw look online I got my zip backs for less than most stores want for reg chips.
