natural cough remedy

Went to the doctor last week and have an upper respiratory infection. He put me on a z-pac and some cough medicine capsules. However these capsules don't seem to be doing much good, any "natural" cough medicine mixtures you may know of to help out. I've always heard something about honey and lemon juice but not sure.

I've been told this helps but I have yet to try it. 1 tablespoon of honey in the morning and one in the evening.

i've heard mixing wild turkey, honey and a little lemon juice up and then heating it can help. never tried it though. wild turkey while i'm sick never sounded good.

Honey, lemon and bourbon work well for sore throats, but not sure about coughs. Be very careful about mixing hebal/natural/otc meds with the meds your Dr. perscribed. You can make yourself a lot sicker than you already are. My recipe is one tablespoon each of honey and bourbon and 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice. Put that in a cup and pour full with hot water. (not quite to the boiling point) Make sure its ok to have alcohol with the meds you are taking.

it also works better than no-doze, eat a box of it and you'll be to scared to go to sleep!

I think tonight I will catch a cold....

Ha! That's kinda what I was going to recommend.
Drink one 8oz glass of water with 2 tbls Epsom salt in it.
Won't make you feel better but you'll be scared to cough!

My grandparents gave me whiskey honey n lemon slices in a mason jar all the time!!! Always worked in my memory banks

Boil a cup of water, chop up one clove of garlic, place both in a coffee mug and let it sit overnight and drink it n the morning. Do this every day and you will never get a cold again
