    Rain and Bows

I thought about going out this afternoon for a stalk hunt in the thick brush. I figure the deer will be laid up somewhere trying to keep as dry as they can.

Is rain and a bow a no no? I waxed my string real good last night but got to thinking it may not be a good idea.

    What say you?

Its not ideal but I have hunted ELK in the pouring rain for hours over the past 30 years. You just have to treat all the screws and keep string waxed up. Main thing is at night to really dry your bow completely. I use a hair dryer if there is AC. If in the wilderness I always have a dry towel. JMO Have a great hunt!!

My favorite time to hunt is in the rain. I have never had a single problem with any of my bows. Even after hours of steady rain in the timber

it won't hurt your bow but it is a real pain in the arse to get it cleaned and dried afterwards!

Thanks for the input. I will just slide it in the oven when I get back. Thanks!

i get to work on a lot of those bows that have been used in the rain,,,, do yourself a favor,,, if you are able pull all the small screws and coat them heavily with a string wax, it will keep them from seizing because the water will get into the threads and the screw will rust inside the hole.... drilling them out is neither cheap nor easy,,, the limb bolts are large enough to put a couple of heavy oil drops on them and let them work their way down the threads,, motor oil works good for this
